The Crick Crack Club presents
DARKER MATERIALS
Performance storytelling by Mikael Oberg

Hunters lacking etiquette; lung-eating companions; insulted deities, & the man in the moon…

Somewhere in the dark northern forests of Scandinavia you pass from a world of midnight sun into a mythic tundra landscape forged from shards of eggshell. Cold, strange and comedic, this is a world laced with epic.

Swedish performance storyteller Mikael Oberg embarks on wild and riotous adventures of over-enthusiastic heroes and malevolent spirits; tales of weird journeys to the moon and beyond, and ancient stories from the Finnish Kalevala and other dark materials, all re-imagined with wit, enchantment, humour and intensity.

This is proper Scandi Noir with added gods, delivered with demonic charm! Light the blue touch paper and retreat to a safe distance….

MIKAEL OBERG is a Swedish performance storyteller and member of the Fabula Storytelling Company in Stockholm. He tells myth and epic to a wide range of audiences, alone and in collaboration with musicians. Besides storytelling, he performs with the physical theatre group Theatre Slava, he can dance, and he is co-artistic director of Cistern.se, organising experimental sonic events and cross-arts festivals.
