On 2nd July 1944 in Los Angeles, the American band leader, producer, prolific record label founder and jazz impresario Norman Granz presented “A Jazz Concert at the Philharmonic Auditorium” - shortened by the printer of the concert posters to “Jazz At The Philharmonic”.

Granz used a variety of well known bands and singers including such jazz royalty as Oscar Peterson, Ella Fitzgerald, Lester Young and Charlie Parker. The concerts would always conclude with an impromptu jam session featuring all of the participating musicians. This formula proved an instant hit, lauded by both critics and jazz fans who further abridged the title of the concerts to “JATP”.

Following on from the original JATP's world tours and numerous live recordings that continued right up to the 1980’s, thirteen of the UK’s finest jazz musicians will bring this hugely popular and important part of jazz history back to London’s Cadogan Hall.

The concert will be led by the band leader and master clarinetist Pete Long ("a national treasure" - The Times), who will present the concert in his own inimitably humorous way. The concert also features the celebrated saxophonist Ray Gelato and guest vocalists Nicola Emmanuelle and Georgina Jackson reigniting the magic of JATP where capacity audiences roared their wildly enthusiastic approval of the music. The Jazz Repertory Company's recreation of JATP's captivating and exciting jazz will be a unique event not to be missed.
