To commemorate the Centenary of the First World War, Combat Stress, the Veterans’ mental health charity, are hosting a very special evening to honour those who made the ultimate sacrifice as well as those who returned home suffering from psychological and physical wounds.

Featuring music, poetry and readings from the era, including performances of “It’s a Long Way to Tipperary” and the works of Wilfred Owen and Siegfried Sassoon, a host of celebrities will guide the audience through the war, from outbreak to armistice.

Special guests include Pam Rhodes, presenter of BBC’s ‘Songs of Praise’, Martin Bell OBE, former BBC war correspondent and independent MP, and Lewis Macleod, world renowned voice actor from films and TV including Star Wars and Postman Pat.

There will also be a special performance by the cast of “The Dreamers”, the hit stage show which charts the Battle of Gallipoli.

All proceed from the event will go towards the life changing work of Combat Stress, the Veterans mental health charity. Over 95 years the charity has supported more than 100,000 psychologically wounded Veterans to overcome the invisible scars of war. With over 5,400 Veterans currently being treated, the charity has never been busier as the brave troops return home from Iraq and Afghanistan.
