SEA LIFE LONDON AQUARIUM TEAMS UP WITH ROY’S PEOPLE TO CREATE MINIATURE B-MOVIE STYLE POP-UP EXHIBITION
From Tuesday 19 – Monday 25 August

Visitors to the SEA LIFE London Aquarium have even more to see in the attraction from 19 August and throughout the bank holiday weekend, as hiding amongst some of the weird and wonderful species of crab in the CLAWS area are 11 miniature people, all reacting in different ways to their alien-like environments.

The south bank attraction has worked with Essex-based artist Roy, who creates humorous scenes with ‘Roy’s People’ –– miniature, hand-made models he makes from a mixture of everyday items and artists materials – to create a week-long bespoke pop-up exhibition for visitors to enjoy.

“The SEA LIFE London Aquarium’s crab area CLAWS is B-movie themed, so when they came to me with the idea I could immediately see the kind of scenes that would work perfectly with these alien-like creatures,” said Roy. “The end result is a mixture of people’s curiosity, like the family peeking at a giant Japanese Spider crab, and fear, like the group running from a giant but harmless Hermit crab.”

“We always like to make sure we’re offering something extra during the school holidays, so when we saw his work we loved the idea of Roy's People coming to the aquarium, and thought our guests would too,” added Toby Forer, General Manager at the SEA LIFE London Aquarium. “The animals are fascinating enough of course, but having a little something extra for both children and adults to spot always goes down well, so we hope they have fun finding each of the miniature scenes!”

Eleven miniature models in three different quirky scenes will be on display from Tuesday 19 August for one week until Monday 25 August, in the CLAWS crab exhibition, which launched in February this year and is situated at the end of the attraction.
