Ever wondered how an LED display works? How to create images by programming them, and create your own video game using buttons?

The DIY Gamer Kit is the latest DIY technology kit from Technology WIll Save Us. During this session, you will learn how to program your own video games using Arduino and our custom software library as well as how to create images and animations to be displayed on the screen. Discover and acquire some of the skills to program your very first LED display whilst learning and enhancing your understanding of game mechanics and the world of programming.

The DIY Gamer kit is a great-looking, well-engineered object that would most importantly inspire people to learn. It has the classic gaming controls you would expect, but has the bonus added features of a buzzer to allow you to add music to your projects and wireless infrared links to allow you to link up with other Gamers for multiplayer gaming. Yes, that's right, you can battle your friends and enemies!

On the day we will cover:
How to connect up your gamer platform to the wonderful world of Arduino! The favourite open source hardware hacking platform!
The basics of how to program microcontrollers
How to make images and animations on LED dot matrixes and develop an understanding of how the electronics are used to make the matrix work
How to use sensors to control the display

Level:
The class is suitable for ages 10+ and all skill levels - no experience necessary - just a love of gaming, making and a lot of enthusiasm!
