Klezmer in the Park: The Festival 2014

FREE FUN PACKED MUSICAL AFTERNOON WITH A KIDS ZONE, FULL OF FANTASTIC CHILDREN’S ACTIVITIES

This much loved celebration of Jewish music is in its sixth year and once again features a line-up of world class musicians and dance leaders. This year it’s also a birthday party marking JMI’s 30 year anniversary making Klezmer in the Park: The Festival 2014 unmissable.

BBC Radio’s presenter and DJ Max Reinhardt returns as MC.

This year’s stellar bill features virtuoso accordionist ALAN BERN, of the band Brave Old World, one of the leading lights in the revival of Yiddish music since the 1980s. In an all–star line-up created especially for The Festival ALAN BERN’S UK KLEZMER ALLSTARS will play at 4.45pm.

After last year’s hugely successful debut JMI’s Kids Zone, a marquee dedicated solely to entertaining children, returns with a host of free, fabulously creative crafting activities where kids can make their own clay klezmer instruments, musical mobiles, funky badges and much more. Especially designed to complement the afternoon performance of Drawing Life is a learning workshop exploring the material,feelings and issues the composition raises. Accompanied by the JFS Klezmer Band kids also have the opportunity to learn a Yiddish dance from dance
teachers Vivi Lachs and Ilana Cravitz which will be performed in a parade around the band stand as a prelude to The Festival 2014.
