Our swing dance night returns with more live music for a flappin' swanky, shoe shuffling fun time! This month, seven-piece ensemble, The Silver Ghosts will be evoking the breathless and high-spirited dance gigs of the 1920s, 1930s and 1940s.
Starting as duet with Mark (The Colonel) on the trumpet and Karl (Caps) learning the ukulele, the founder members were inspired by the energy and style of swing dance club nights. Here the DJs played nothing but original 78s on period equipment, while patrons expressed their passion for swing jazz through period garb and classic, energetic partner-dances like the Lyndy Hop and Charlston.
Over time, The Silver Ghosts settled as a seven piece ensemble, gigging at swing dance club nights and prestigious jazz venues like The 100 Club. Despite the changes in culture, economics and technology, they continue to recreate the authentic ensemble swing jazz sound.
PLUS! Dance class from Swing Patrol at 7.30.
