Fernando Montaño is one of the UK’s leading ballet dancers and on October 21st he’ll be staging his new ‘Classical Cabaret’ at the Hippodrome Theatre.

Fernando recently became the first Colombian ever to be appointed Soloist with The Royal Ballet but on October 21st he and his talented and acclaimed friends from the worlds of dance, opera and classical music will be coming together to produce a very special evening of international entertainment.

‘Fernando Montaño’s Classical Cabaret’ will be a special opportunity to watch some of the very best artists currently working in the UK as they perform in the intimate and relaxed 170 seat theatre.

The themes of the night will be friendship and randomness, in celebration of Fernando’s journey from an extremely socially deprived and dangerous part of Colombia to Soloist at Covent Garden whilst meeting this incredible group of performers along the way.

The show will include individual performances as well as some unique cross-genre collaborations and those already confirmed include Mezzo Soprano Justina Gringyte, who will be playing Carmen for the English National Opera in their 2015 production at the Coliseum, and celebrated pianist Alexandra Dariescu who has just recorded an album of Tchaikovsky with The Royal Philharmonic.

They will be joined by the extremely talented Chinese violinist Jiafeng Chen and Russian Cellist Mikhail Nemtsov.

Voted Latin American Personality of the Year at both the 2013 and 2014 LUKAS Awards, Fernando has been described by the BBC as ‘the Colombian Billy Elliot’ and he is one of the country’s most famous exports and regarded as one of the rising stars of world dance.

Having taken part in the Royal Ballet’s 2014 summer tour to Russia and China he then took his own company of dancers, drawn from the Royal Ballet and English National Ballet, to Colombia where they performed three shows at the newly refurbished Bogota Opera House, The Teatro Colon, after Fernando and President Santos jointly performed the opening ceremony.

A very limited number of public tickets are available from the Hippodrome website and box office

The show, which is choreographed and co-produced by Fernando, will be in two halves of approximately 40 minutes each and with a 20 minute interval.
