Leading food brand Birds Eye has commissioned renowned photographer Martin Parr to showcase a never before seen collection of 30 photographs, revealing a unique perspective of Britain’s eating habits, entitled ‘A Birds Eye View’. The exhibition documents Parr’s four month tour of the UK, offering visitors an exclusive insight into what makes up the typical, modern mealtime in Britain.

Martin Parr, who has famously captured the personal tastes and habits of Britons for more than 22 years, was appointed by Birds Eye to develop a deeper understanding of the nation’s mealtime habits. The initiative follows the ‘Big Mealtime Audit’, a study by Birds Eye exploring the way real people eat and interact with one another during meals and uncovering what makes modern British mealtimes truly special.

The original photography collection features real people enjoying mealtimes from across the UK with the subjects hailing from regions including; Kent, London, Cornwall, Norfolk, Yorkshire, Wales, Kent, Southport and Birmingham. The collection displays a variety of scenarios including everything from a group of young professionals sharing a midweek meal, a family eating dinner in front of the TV, a breakfast fry-up on a camping holiday amongst friends, a group enjoying a traditional Indian curry, to a summer BBQ in the garden.

The ‘A Birds Eye View’ exhibition will pop-up in central London for just one day only on Wednesday 1st October. Visitors will experience an exclusive free of charge viewing of the collection, as well as a screening of a behind-the-scenes film documenting Martin’s tour and the various subjects and meal occasions he photographed throughout the course of the tour.

Martin Parr comments: “Each photograph within this collection highlights that whether you choose to eat with others or alone, every moment captured can tell a story and reveal a fascinating insight into people’s lives. My aim with ‘A Birds Eye View’ is to bring this idea to life and understand the real people and real meals that depict how our nation eats today, encouraging others to appreciate our different and wonderful ways of living.”
