Hackney Colliery Band have had an absolutely mega summer of festivals and tour shows: 20 festivals so far but somewhere along the line this summer they’ve managed to find time to start working on some new material.

So heres what theyre doing: every Monday from now to the end of September in a different venue, They’ll be playing a special new material gig. That’s right, a gig EVERY WEEK between now and October. These gigs will be very different from the normal shows: expect sheet music to be flying around all over the place, some experimental stuff that might not work alongside some that hopefully will, and some new bits of gear that they might not know how to use yet!

Don’t get me wrong, these gigs will be a LOT of fun; plenty of new material plus some old classics nestled in amongst the wonky new stuff.

And every gig will be in a pub with Hackney Colliery Band's very own beer on tap!

Those of you who can remember all the way back to autumn 2013 will remember that HCB teamed up with the beer conjurers at Truman’s to produce a very special brew: Bold as Brass.

Originally due for a strictly limited run of 6 weeks, it was such a success that it was on tap in over 100 London pubs until February this year. With that in mind, the band thought they’d do it all over again. So from this week onwards, look out for that shiny red pump clip in your favourite London boozer and make sure you ask for a pint of HCB’s own brew!

Over the past two years the band have earned themselves an army of loyal fans and have played at some very special events. From live collaborations with the late Amy Winehouse and more recently Eliza Doolittle, to headlining the Manchester Jazz and Durham Brass Festivals and being the only fully live band to play at the Closing Ceremony of the London 2012 Olympics, they haven’t paused for breath.
