Matt Wates

Matt is a lovely, melodic, alto saxophonist who performs in the classic bebop style. One of those players who studied in America his impressive technique and liquid sound are testament to a fine talent. His writing is also superlative and this great six-piece band, boasting a three-horn front line, is quite brilliant. The music is a wonderfully melodic mix of classic jazz standards and beautifully arranged originals performed by some of the finest players on the scene. As well as Matt on sax the line up also includes fellow saxophonist Steve Main, rising UK trumpet star Henry Armburg-Jennings and highly regarded pianist Leon Greening. A terrific jazz gig from some really great players.
