Considering a career in tech? Wondering what a degree in maths or science could lead to? Thinking about a career change but don't know where to start?

SwiftKey is hosting a 'STEM surgery' for anyone who wants to find out more about what an education and career in the science, technology, engineering or maths could do for you.

We will welcome guest speakers (including Edd Read, co-founder of Graze.com), who will share their experiences of studying a STEM subject, as well as some of our very own SwiftKey employees who have backgrounds in STEM.

You'll meet a wide range of people in the HQ of one of the UK's most innovative technology companies. It will be a fantastic opportunity to network in an informal, friendly environment plus there'll be free wine and nibbles.

About the speakers:

Edd Read - Edd is co-founder of graze.com and studied MEng, Engineering Mathematics at Bristol University. Edd is responsible for the website and user experience at Graze, and helped develop their algorithm 'DARWIN' that determines how Graze’s snack portions are sorted into punnets, how the Graze boxes are labelled, and how they are packed directly into Royal Mail vans.

Dr Charlie Edmunds - Charlie studied genetics and did a PhD in Molecular Biology before realising that she much preferred making graphs and explaining information, rather than generating the data in the first place. Now she’s Head of Insight at SwiftKey, where she enables people in all areas of the business to make decisions based on facts, not hunches.

Dr Juliet Corbett - Juliet was Chairwoman of Women in Science and Engineering Northern Ireland and is a fellow of the Institute of Physics. Her diverse career spans 30 years in the private, public and voluntary sector, mainly in the fields of science and energy, and has been characterised by a strong personal commitment to the promotion of science.
