GOURMET BURGER KITCHEN BRINGS ‘BURGER: THE OPERA’ TO LONDON

Gourmet Burger Kitchen is about to produce an opera like no other – one dedicated to the glories of the burger. A bite-sized fifteen minutes long, this paean to the patty will be performed twice daily (1pm and 2pm) from October 13th to 17th.

There is no need to fork out on expensive tickets or a fancy frock, this ode to the burger will be performed free for diners at Gourmet Burger Kitchen, Waterloo.

Produced in partnership with Secret Opera, an experimental opera company with a mission to take opera to places it has never been before, the performance tells a story of passion; a tolerant father and his picky daughter, a passionate GBK employee and the wonderful experience of falling head over heels in love (with a burger).

All set to a stirring classical score, this is one performance where meat and melody will intertwine as never before.

Having started on their journey in 2001, over the years GBK has become more than obsessive with our gourmet burgers. Where some burger restaurants bring in DJs, there is only one art form able to communicate its burger passion; opera.

The performances coincide with the launch of GBK’s new 15 Minute Lunch menu, which guarantees customers a speedy lunch; a satisfying 4oz burger and fries from £5.95 all served up in 15 minutes flat, giving you time for all the other things you might want to do in your lunch hour. Even better, if your burger doesn’t arrive 15 minutes from ordering, GBK guarantee your next lunch on them.

Secret Opera said: “Opera is all about passion, so we’re delighted to be working with GBK who are equally as passionate about their own art form: the burger. With Burger: The Opera we’ve created a quirky, unique and exclusive experience for burger-hungry people to enjoy, for free, during their lunch hour. I’ll admit we haven’t performed to people while they eat burgers before, but I’m secretly hoping for a seated ovation after each performance.”
