Apologie For Understanding showcases the works of emerging Iranian artist Ghazaleh Avarzamani.

The mutability and intricacy of language is explored: misreadings, understandings, misunderstandings, interpretations, translations, mistranslations and transformations within collective memory.

Through different medium she aims to define the communicational codes we share beyond the barriers of language, with statement and performativity of its verbal and non-verbal forms and expressions.

The subject ‘language’ can be pre-text, pre-formed to that which is written or read. Her research is on the nature of language use, cognition and meaning, and the relationship between it, and reality.

Avarzamani (b.1980) received her MA Fine Art at Central Saint Martins, London. Her works have been exhibited in Iran, Dubai and London.

Apologie For Understanding takes place in the gallery space of Asia House between 3 November and 14 November and is open to the public with free admission.
