The Anti-Vivisection Coalition is holding a demonstration in London this Saturday 4th at the British Heart Foundation headquarters:

1pm - 4pm meeting at Harrington Square Gardens [opposite British Heart Foundation HQ]
Greater London House,
180 Hampstead Road,
London NW1 7AW
AVC phone: 07896 046810

The demonstration will have a 'broken heart' theme - so there is an option to wear or bring things to illustrate broken hearts. We'll also provide banners and placards. Four-legged friends are welcome. Do note this is a central London demonstration so only bring confident dogs who are used to busier places. Regents Park is nearby so you can take your dog companion for a run in one of London's most-loved green spaces after the event.

After the demo we'll be heading to eco-cafe inSpiral Lounge in nearby Camden inspiral.co

Recently we brought to light some especially dreadful activity in Maastricht University Holland, where 39 labrador dogs were to be used in extremely invasive, painful cardiac experiments and killed. This experiment has been funded by none other than the UK charity giant the BRITISH HEART FOUNDATION.

Details of this experiment can be found on our campaign page HERE: www.stopvivisection.org.uk/brokenhearts

Here's AVC's petition demanding BHF end all funding of dog experiments: chn.ge/1w2FKPT

Due to an intensive AVC campaign over in Holland, were 125,000 signatures were gathered in just 5 days calling for the labradors to be freed, Maastricht University have postponed the experiment. But the British Heart Foundation have not withdrawn funding! They claim the experiment was set to be ‘life-changing’ for humans, conveniently forgetting that similar heart experiments have been conducted on no less than 146 dogs at Maastricht University alone in the last 10 years, without leading to any progress in human medicine!

Thought that a household charity like the British Heart Foundation wouldn’t be involved in something as terrible as animal experiments? Think again. £90m is spent every year by the charity on research and although BHF won't disclose how much of that is spent on using animals, we can assume it is a huge amount in the tens of millions.

During the demonstration on Saturday we will be demanding three things:

1 - British Heart Foundation MUST be honest with their donors, the British public. They MUST declare exactly how much money is spent on animal experiments every year, and how many animal lives are used for research funded by them. They must also give details of the species used in experiments.

2 - British Heart Foundation MUST end funding of ALL dog experiments immediately! The British public are already heavily against the use of dogs in scientific experiments and there is no way that BHF should be using people’s well-intentioned donations to fund the torture and death of dogs.

3 - Funding for the Maastricht labradors MUST be immediately withdrawn!

We'll also be delivering our petition to BHF where we aim for 5,000 people to have signed to demand that they stop funding dog experiments: http://chn.ge/1w2FKPT

We look forward to seeing you on Saturday! -
