Ronchini Gallery is pleased to present Home, an exhibition featuring new works by London-based Dutch-Monegasque artist Adeline de Monseignat. The exhibition, curated by Samia Calbayrac, explores the nostalgia of childhood memories through a large-scale installation that incorporates architecture, sculpture and drawing. De Monseignat creates sculptures, installations and ink drawings inspired by Freud’s theory of The Uncanny and surrealism. She is interested in ‘making the familiar strange’ and uses tactile materials such as fur or sand, often encased in glass, to provoke tension between the animate and the inanimate. Breathing ‘creaptures’, oozing black ink drawings, hairy eye balls and mirrored glass cylinders populate her oeuvre. She won the Catlin Art Prize and has been residence at Pioneer Works in Brooklyn and Villa Lena in Italy. She has exhibited at Yorkshire Sculpture Park, High House in Oxfordshire, Victoria Miro in London and the Bleecker St Arts Club in New York as well as in several exhibitions curated by James Putnam.
