Women of the World Series 2014 Choral Concert

The Women of the World (WOW) Series celebrates music from around the world, by female composers, both contemporary and traditional.

The first half of the 2014 WOW Series, took place in September with 6 premiers by female composers. The second and concluding part of the series takes places on October 18th with 4 premiers and three final performances at Kings Place.

The first performance is a Choral Concert by four choirs from Kent. The choirs will perform new works by British composer Cecilia McDowall, Cape Verdean jazz composer Carmen Souza, Bulgarian choral director Dessislava Stefanova and Indian composer Priti Paintal. The concert will be a mix of jazz, African, Indian, Bulgarian folk and medieval styles and includes a tribute piece to Nelson Mandela.
