Teeth Show (Natasha Davis)

How did one person's teeth save the world? What unexpected body parts are your incisors connected to? Which rite includes knocking out teeth? When was the Tooth Fairy born? Teeth Show gently guides you through these and many other canine, molar and pre-molar secrets you never heard of.

Starting with teeth as a metaphor for roots, Teeth Show invites you on a poetic, medical, bitter-sweet and autobiographical journey through surreal stories, original sound and film.

The performance takes the autobiographical fact that wherever Natasha Davis migrated, she experienced an extraordinary tooth story – from her father's colleague dentist making a pass when she was a teenage patient, to having two root canals in the Syrian desert without anaesthetic, to a late night out-of-hours teeth extracting film shoot.

Created in collaboration with Lucy Cash (movement director and outside eye), Marty Langthorne (lighting designer), Bob Karper (composer) and workshop participants. Commissioned by Chelsea Theatre London. Funded by Arts Council England.

Natasha Davis has presented her performances, films and installations in the UK and internationally in venues such as the National Theatre Studio, Birmingham Rep, Barbican Plymouth, Playhouse Derry, Project Arts Centre Dublin, Point Centre for Contemporary Art Cyprus, Mitchell Theatre Wisconsin, Cummings Art Gallery California and many others. Her work has been funded by Arts Council England, Hosking Houses Trust, Humanities Research Fund, Tower Hamlets, Platforma, Transatlantic Fellowship and numerous commissions and residencies. A visiting lecturer at Birkbeck, Brunel and Warwick, she has delivered talks and workshops across the world and her shows have been included in several publications.
