Women pirates feature prominently in Bryony Lavery's adaptation of the classic story, Treasure Island. This talk looks at the real women pirates of history and considers what their lives were like at sea as well as on land. With David Cordingly, maritime historian and a leading authority on pirates. He was formerly at the National Maritime Museum and is the author of Life among the Pirates: the Romance and the Reality and also Heroines and Harlots: Women at Sea in the Great Age of Sail.
