This is a fun one-day intensive photography workshop that will expand the way you see. You will develop a mindful practice that will help you be totally present when taking photographs and encourage you to align what you see with your mind and heart. Mindful photography is simply described as meditation with your camera; this workshop will share techniques and practices that will act as a foundation for developing your ability to be present with all that you see and to create original and personal photographs.

Course Outline

Morning:
Introduction to Mindful Photography by the workshop leader Lee Aspland
Exercises to explore how we see and the barriers to seeing
Introduction to the '4 Stage Seeing Practice' - activity

Afternoon:

Exercise to explore how we name what we see
'Giving the mundane its beautiful due' - activity
Feedback and discussion about the practice and shared photos

The course is suitable for people of all photographic abilities with an interest in mindfulness and a curiosity about how this can be applied to photography. All you need is a digital camera, an empty memory card and a fully charged battery.
