Kevin Fitzsimmons is one of the most individual male jazz voices to emerge on the UK jazz scene in recent times, and we are happy to welcome him to the Club tonight for his very first gig here. Already forging a reputation as a charismatic presence and easily identifiable as a songwriter of high quality, you can expect a vibrant evening full of sophistication and verve from a highly talented artist who has managed to create a genuinely unique approach to a classic, swing-based style. His album “Show Me The Way” was released at the end of last year to considerable critical acclaim and he’s enjoyed sell-out shows with tonight’s band at numerous venues around the UK, including Ronnie Scotts and Pizza Express Dean Street. The programme tonight, very much in the “straight-ahead”, hard swinging, melodic style of jazz, will feature sassy new versions of standards, jazz arrangements of classic pop recordings (including the The Beatles, Sam Cooke, Billy Preston and Paul Weller) and brilliant originals (including recent songs co-written by Jools Holland and UK sax great, Derek Nash). Tonight’s band has been described as “the cream of UK-straight ahead jazz musicians” by Jazzwise magazine featuring pianist Leon Greening, drummer Matt Fishwick, bassist Adam King and trumpet player Steve Fishwick. Highly recommended.

“Lovers of the jazz vocal mainstream have another star to follow” Jazzwise Magazine;
“His voice is an irresistible mix of Sinatra, Bennett & Buble, backed by a world class band” JAZZ FM;
“Rich voice, mature phrasing and a superb sense of swing” Jazz Camera
