This unique show features two of the very best vocalists around, both 606 Club regulars, performing an incredible selection of soul, groove and R&B together for the very first time. IMAANI A terrific singer in the Soul/R&B tradition Imaani’s CV is long and impressive. She first came to prominence as the UK’s 1998 entrant to the Eurovision Song contest (one of the better choices!) where she was runner up and went on to produce a highly successful single that charted around the World. She then moved on to work with Dub Conspiracy (with whom she again charted) and her worldwide tours, television, live and recorded output includes work with the likes of Gloria Gaynor, Carleen Anderson, Michael Bolton, Lulu and Beverley Knight. She was until recently the lead singer with the iconic band “Incognito”, with whom she has had a long association and she continues to perform with them whenever “motherhood” duties allow. A powerful and charismatic vocalist this is a rare chance to hear this enormously experienced and highly regarded singer perform here at the Club. WAYNE HERNANDEZ is one of those fantastic singers who has been using his considerable talents for many years to make others sound good. Hugely successful within the music business he has worked with Tina Turner, Tori Amos, Blur, Grover Washington, Roberta Flack and Madonna. He has also toured extensively with Kool and the Gang, Regina Bell and most recently Billy Ocean, and is one of the singers with the band Gorillaz, (oh, that guy!). With an Afro-Cuban heritage that includes work to this day with the London Community Gospel Choir, along with living in New York for a number of years, a well-established songwriter and producer, this multi-talented artist is quite brilliant. Both these singers are good friends of the Club and I was surprised that these two great artists had never actually worked together, an omission that this gig seeks to redress. This combination of two of the most powerful performers on the UK scene, put together specifically for this LJF gig, promises to be the “groove” Gig Of the Year.

“the magnificent vocals of Imaani, who weaves her magic over a backdrop of funk guitar and old-school synths” DJ Times;

“..it was clear that Wayne had a very special talent, his voice, it was simply breathtaking” Livemusic.fm
