Vivat Bacchus is a celebration of rustic, robust food, artisan cheeses and great wines. Join us for 'Jazz In The City' every Friday night at our Farringdon branch, featuring live music from the amazing 'Mario Castronari Trio'.

Mario Castronari is a double bass player/composer born in Berlin 1954. He began his career in Europe, playing with trombonist Albert Mangelsdorf and saxophonist Heinz Sauer before establishing himself permanently in the UK. A bassist adept in wholly improvised and composed music, he has backed various singers (Mark Murphy, Ian Shaw, Marion Montgomery and Elaine Delmar), & worked in small groups ranging from bebop to improvised music, and played in the Ian Shaw Band. He is most celebrated in his capacity as composer/leader of the fusion group Roadside Picnic. Recently he has been involved with the contemporary cello group Cellorhythmics, and a series of concerts and broadcasts with pianist Mark Latimer.
