Bored of bog-standard comedy? Then urine for a treat!...

Join us for an evening of pant-wetting entertainment at a former ‘gentleman’s convenience’ as part of WaterAid’s World Toilet Day: It’s No Joke Comedy Festival, and you’ll be laughing like a drain! Compered by hilarious story teller James Loveridge who draws on the most embarrassing recesses of his own life, there’ll no doubt be a few dirty jokes. With a talent for incorporating arts and crafts into her stand-up routines, ‘comic wonder-woman’ (Rip It Up mag) Bec Hill creates a unique and unforgettable comedy style that she calls "paper-puppetry". No tearable jokes we promise… ‘Quirky very funny new stand-up' (Time Out) rising star Harriet Kemsley, who recently performed at Edinburgh Fringe, will have you wiping away tears of laughter, along with ‘trombone clown’ Faye Treacy, whom Jimmy Carr once noted "looks like my transvestite younger brother." This certainly isn’t a bum deal!

Britain is known for its love of toilet humour. But for many millions of people around the world toilets are no laughing matter. A shocking 2.5 billion people – one in three of the world’s population – do not have access to a safe, private toilet. Many have no choice but to face the indignity of going to the toilet in the open, where they are exposed to disease and vulnerable to harassment and even attack. This is a serious issue that can be hard to talk about – so let’s overcome our embarrassment and use comedy to get the nation talking about toilets. All profits from this event goes to support WaterAid’s life-saving work, in helping us reach our vision of a world where everyone, everywhere has access to safe water, sanitation and hygiene.

Alongside the comedy festival, WaterAid has encouraged some of Britain’s best-loved comedians to go head-to-head to be awarded the title of ‘Britain’s Best Toilet Joke’. Watch Milton Jones, Lucy Porter, Arthur Smith and John Cooper Clarke, amongst others, deliver their wee one-liners andperform toilet tales, and vote for your favourite online at: www.wateraid.org/uk/itsnojoke. Running from 3rd - 18th November, the winning joke will be announced on World Toilet Day, where one of the comedians will be crowned the winner and receive the coveted golden loo seat!
