Are you looking for ways to promote your writing and reach new audiences? Would you like to learn how online platforms such as Blogs, Twitter, Facebook, Instagram and Pinterest can raise your author profile and increase your chances of success in the publishing world? Whether you are interested in traditional publishing or self-publishing, social media is a powerful tool for writers of all genres.

SAF is organising a small group 2-hour long workshop for writers on Wednesday 10th December 2014 at 6.30pm-8.30pm in Bermondsey.

This workshop will focus on:

• Principles of Social Media
• Case Studies: Writers using Social Media successfully
• Blogging - choosing content and building an audience
• Twitter - benefits and pitfalls
• Facebook / Instagram / Pinterest - getting visual
• Q&A

The participants are encouraged to bring their handheld devices – mobile phones or tablets to engage with the content throughout the session and put the training straight into practice.
This session is run by Emily Benet - a writer and social media trainer. Her first book Shop Girl Diaries began as a weekly blog, and was commissioned as a book and a short film. The blog was winner of the Completely Novel Author Blog Awards 2010 and has been featured in guidebooks including the latest edition of Blogging for Writers. Emily has written on the benefits of writers using social for several publications including Publishing Talk, Writers & Artists, The New Writer and Mslexia. Her guidebook Blogging for Beginners is available online.
