Ella’s Kitchen® Brand and children’s charity Kids Company have partnered in a collaboration to document the effects of food insecurity among some of the UK’s most vulnerable families. The impactful and interactive art installation showing at Whole Foods Market in Kensington, was created following research to understand how chronic hunger and food insecurity affect children in the UK from their perspective.

The research carried out by the University of Reading asked children and young people to express their experiences of hunger through art. For all too many of the children and their families, skipping meals and going hungry for whole days is a common experience.

Hungry Childhoods is a powerful reminder of the existence of food insecurity in the UK and gives a voice to usually invisible children, who through this important exhibition graphically communicate their shame and despair.

To understand what thousands of hungry children in the UK go through on a daily basis, come and experience it through their own eyes and artistic interpretation.
