The 14th edition of Mosaïques Festival in London features cutting-edge contemporary music produced in France.

With music created out of beautiful and deep Malian roots to start, followed by rock with strong North African influences and a DJ set fusing Middle-Eastern trance-like folk music with acid house and techno.

Conference 2pm:

A discussion on the free movement of musicians, with a particular emphasis on the difficulties faced when trying to perform the UK.

Free entry.
Please RSVP via [email protected].

Live Music - Doors 7:30pm.

Debademba (Malian griot) 8pm:

Debademba is a group formed from the magical encounter of guitarist Abdoulaye Traoré and the young Malian singer Mohamed Diaby. Traoré is an inventive soloist from Burkina Faso. Diaby is a charismatic griot taking the traditional form to new heights. These two Parisian Africans create a music that is modern and explosive with the Mandinka heritage at its heart.

Temenik Electric (Arabic Rock) 9pm:

From the vibrant city of Marseille on the French Mediterranean coast comes this flamboyant band, led by singer-songwriter Mehdi Haddjeri. Their sound is rooted in Algeria with Gnawa and Chaabi influences. Temenik Electric have taken the tropes of Western rock and given them a dramatic spin. They released their debut album 'Ouesh Hada' in 2013.

Acid Arab DJ Set 10.30pm:

A duo from Paris mixing music from North Africa, Lebanon, Egypt, Turkey and even Mumbai with electronic sounds. A fantastic voyage with guests like I:Cube or Omar Souleyman, the album 'Acid Arab Collections' was released earlier this year on the Versatile label. 'We don't paste oriental sounds on occidental beats, we want to embody both cultures', say Guido Minisky and Hervé Carvalho.

BENDA BILILI:

The Festival will also host a free film screening of Benda Bilili on Saturday 29th.
