The Players of St. Peter have been presenting productions of English medieval drama for over sixty years. We offer annual productions from the main English mystery cycles, which we have done every year since 1952. Directed by Olive Stubbs for the thirtieth time, her extraordinary vision sees experienced players and new comers to the church stage come together to present the biblical story from creation to Doomsday. This year the scenes are taken from the unique N-Town text which is believed to be a touring play script. Set in arguably the most original of six London churches designed by the idiosyncrantic architect Nicholas Hawksmoor, many regulars year after year enjoy the text performed in the original spirit it once was. Even in our 'sound-bite' era, Olive believes it is possible to access the message and respond to the set speeches and the alliterative poetry of the plays thought to have even inspired William Shakespeare himself.Get into the spirit of Christmas with these quintessentially English gems performed up and down the country since the eleventh century.
