As part of our World War 1 commemorations, Firepower will be hosting a football match between two Greenwich schools, next to its Trench reconstruction on Barrack Field, Woolwich.

Our Living History Team will be opening their trench from 11:00am to 3:00pm. Their cook will be providing a free tasting menu of 1914 style cookery.

The aim is to focus our commemoration of the Great War on the Christmas Truce and the football matches that are said to have occurred up and down the trench line at Christmas in 1914. A Royal Artillery commemorative cup will be given to the winning school.

Visitors are very welcome to come and cheer on the teams. There will be trench food tasting such as corned beef hash, trench bread & hard tack.

The event is organised with the help of Woolwich Barracks, The Royal Regiment of Artillery, Firepower Living History Team and Greenwich Schools.
