Sweet Palm Whine brings together established and emerging UK-based West African musicians for a night of live performance and DJ’s to raise money for those affected by Ebola.

The night features an impressive line up, including a headline acoustic performance from M3NSA, pioneer of contemporary Ghanaian music and one half of the world famous Fokn Bois, returning to London to participate in the night straight off the back of a successful international tour. Silvastone, one of the most sought-after Afrobeats producers in Africa and the UK, will also be performing. Silvastone’s previous collaborators include Estelle, D’Banj, Rita Ora, Blak Twang, and Emmanuel Jal. Now exploring his musical talents as a solo artist, the rising star will be sharing some bangers from his new EP, Transitions.

An impressive emerging artist, the self-coined ‘AfroBrit’ singer Vicky Sola will also be sharing her vocal talents on the night. Winner of Best Unsigned Act at the BEFFTA (Black Entertainment Film Fashion Television and Arts) Awards 2014, Sola fuses RnB, Reggae and Soul with a unique African twang. She will be performing her debut single ‘Oh My Gosh’, the video of which has been a viral sensation amongst those in the know.

Beyond providing a platform for a new vanguard of British-based West African performers, ‘Sweet Palm Whine’ also showcases traditional Sierra Leonean Palm Wine Music. Performances of the authentic Maringa melodies come from accomplished musicians The Zambezi Experience, a 7 piece band with more than 40 years experience, as well as Fire Fire Fire, a new collaboration between 3 musicians originally trained by Palm Wine musical pioneer, S.E Rogie. Rising Sierra Leonean star CeCe will be acting as a guest vocalist and DJ Little, who has been championing African music in the UK for decades, will be getting the crowd dancing.
