A performance in two halves by French master storyteller, Abbi Patrix. Treacherous, comedic and magical - enter a world of grown-up fairytale.

Trolls
Powerful, brutal, often stupid, and notoriously clumsy; trolls are supposedly invincible and feared by everyone… everyone that is, except Askeladen – the ash lad – a small boy who sits in the ashes of the fire, ever ready to take them on with his special bag of ‘trickness....’

The Companion
Filled with magic and suspense, this dark grown-up fairytale bristles with vivid and powerful imagery. A young man sets off on a quest to find the woman of his dreams. And yet he is not alone; he finds himself guided through peril and pitfall by a mysterious friend – an initiator, a teacher, a slayer of trollhags; a collector of enchanted objects, and above all a companion. In this snow swathed landscape everything happens in threes and nothing is quite what it seems.

Abbi Patrix
Abbi Patrix has been exploring the art of storytelling for the past 30 years with his Compagnie du Cercle which he founded in 1980. Working as both solo performer and as collaborator, Patrix’s work starts at the cross-roads where theatre, music and movement meet, on a permanent quest for new ways to enrich the form of storytelling. Patrix also co-directs La Maison du Conte with Michel Jolivet, where he runs a research workshop for storytelling, improvisation and transmission.
