Calling all City workers seeking a bit of an adrenalin rush and a fun way to get fit after all the festive and New Year celebrations, Broadgate is bringing back their popular Broomball nights at the sparkling open-air Broadgate Ice Rink in Exchange Square.Broomball has become an established annual event at Broadgate and this year, tournaments will be held on Tuesday nights 7-9pm from Tuesday 13 January to Tuesday 10 February.

Canadian born Broomball is a recreational ice game that is traditionally played in an ice hockey rink. The game revolves around players hitting a small ball around the ice with a stick called a broom. It is played with two teams, each consisting of up to six players, one being in goal, plus a few subs. The object of the game is to score more goals than your opponent. Goals are scored by hitting the ball into your opponent's net using your broom. Players wear trainers, helmets and lots of padding to help break their falls as they slide on the ice.

Each Tuesday evening five teams of eight (six players on the rink from each team on the rink - two reserves to swap in/out) are invited to battle in mini tournaments on Broadgate Ice Rink. Private hire is also available for mini-leagues.

Cost including all kit hire is £100 per team or £12.50 per person based on a full team of eight. For more information on how you can join in the fun and take part in some healthy competition with your colleagues or friends, email [email protected].

Celebrate and commiserate after an energy fuelled game in The Tasting Room, where there will be some great Broomball bargains, including one free bucket of beer for the winning team of the night and a £9.50 Cider/beer & Bun deal valid from 7pm to 10pm. From 9pm onwards, certain craft beers will also be 2 for 1.

Broadgate Ice Rink is open to the public for skating and lessons until 26 February 2014.

Tickets for skating can be purchased directly at the ice rink, but check the website for availability.
