Spirited Sermons Burns Night Special

Reverend JW Simpson will be getting into the spirit of Burns night this year with a Spirited Sermons Scotch whisky cocktail masterclass on Tuesday 27th January 2015.
Taking an in-depth look at the Scotland’s most famed spirit, this Spirited Sermons special will be informative, interactive and irreverent. The evening will be hosted by Chivas brand ambassador Rachel Macdonald, one of 18 young men and women on the inaugural Chivas Brothers graduate programme, who will take whisky enthusiasts and aficionados on a journey that explores the distinct character, flavour and taste experience of Chivas Regal.

Throughout the evening, Rachel will join guests at their table to impart her knowledge, offering fascinating facts and amusing anecdotes about the history and production of Scotch, whilst Rev JW Simpson’s experienced cocktail bartenders demonstrate how to use the spirit’s unique flavours to create beautiful, delicate and delicious concoctions. Guests will then have the opportunity to use their newly learnt skills to shake and stir their own Burns Night cocktail at the pop up bar.
In honour of Scotland’s favourite poet, Reverend J W Simpson will be playing a soundtrack of the best music from Scotland, serving Scottish snacks and have created a menu inspired by well-loved Burn’s poems. An example from the menu is:
My love is like a red red rose

50ml Chivas 12yr, 5ml Campari, 5ml Sugar Syrup, 15ml Port, dash orange and mandarin bitters.

All ingredients stirred together, served straight up, with lemon oils and dried rose buds.
