The Tommy Andrews quintet is quickly gaining a reputation as one of London’s most exciting up-and-coming groups with ‘The Crux’ gaining critical acclaim right from the off in publications such as The Guardian, JazzUK and All About Jazz. Tracks from the album have also received national airplay, notably by Julian Joseph during his ‘Jazz Line Up’ on BBC Radio 3. The group, featuring Nick Costley-White, Rick Simpson, Dave Manington and Dave Hamblett will play compositions from the critically acclaimed new album ‘The Crux’ (Jellymould Jazz) and perform the newly composed ‘Galilean Suite’.

‘[The Crux] is a great example of an emerging talent stretching his wings’ JazzUK

‘an impressive first release that deserves committed listening’ Sandy Brown Jazz Magazine

‘reveals true musical maturity’ Julian Joseph, BBC Radio3

‘integrates group interplay with soloistic space so instinctively…Cerebral jazz that keeps you listening.’ Stephen Graham, Marlbank

Many genres are combined to great effect, blending the cinematic power of progressive rock and film-music with the dynamic subtleties of classical music, British Jazz and minimalism. The addition of improvisation into this then creates a unique and memorable sound that will excite and surprise audiences with all musical tastes.
