Saturday 21st February will see the third installation of the W10 Games, a community focussed fitness initiative, pitch teams against each other in a series of fitness events that include different elements of strength, endurance, skill and mental staying power.

The W10 Games are a quarterly competition that brings together fitness-minded individuals and teams made up from residents and local businesses in W10 and the surrounding postcodes. This free event is now open for registrations, and whether you’re a regular gym goer, part of a running group or just looking to do some team building with work colleagues, you will be sure to get a good workout and more importantly enjoy the unbeatable atmosphere.

The founder Jean-Claude Vacassin explains: “The turn of the year is traditionally a time for fitness resolutions, but by February most people have fallen back into their old habits. Going to the gym for the sake of going to the gym will test even the most enthusiastic amongst us eventually. Most of us need a purpose if we are going to stick to it long term and finding a social support network is the key to success.
Most of us pick our gyms based on price, location and facilities, but the reality is that this seldom works. The key to long-term adherence, and in turn results, is to choose an environment we have the support of a network of like-minded people. This might be a gym with a particular training ethos or a running or cycling club for example, or even a place with a community and supportive culture. We wanted people to have an environment to experience this, hence the idea of W10 Games was born."

Vacassin, who hosts the event at the local personal training gym W10 Performance continues: “After the success of the previous W10 Games we are keen to bring the momentum into the third event, getting even more teams together for another series of challenging and fun team events. Competitors will find themselves biking, rowing, jumping, sled pushing, lunging and cycling to their physical limits, doing their best to help their team to the fastest possible finish time.”

The games are not designed to pitch the best athletes against each other – the attendees have varying fitness levels - but the events are designed to be challenging and to provide everyone with a focussed, and slightly competitive outlet. Above all else, the afternoon is designed to be a bit of fun and to bring the W10 community together.
