The Good Friday Meeting is an open-entry track cycling event that takes place at Lee Valley VeloPark. The event welcomes a unique combination of elite, professional and club-level riders from across the globe, as well as national and local talent.

Long Description:
The SCCU Good Friday Meeting returns to Lee Valley VeloPark on Friday 3rd April 2015. With a history going back over 110 years, The Good Friday Meeting is still one of the most iconic open track cycling events in the calendar.

The event welcomes a unique combination of elite, professional and club-level riders from across the globe, as well as national and local talent. It’s open status means that anyone who holds a current British Cycling Racing License with a track accreditation can enter.

Throughout its long history, The Good Friday Meeting has seen the likes of global super-stars like Michael Hubner, Florian Rousseau, Arnaud Tournant, Graeme Obree, Stuart O’Grady and Jason Queally making guest appearances. More recently the event has been a draw for a number of National, World and Olympic champions, including; Germany’s Robert Forstermann, Lief Lampater and Nico Hesslich, and closer to home, Team GB’s Becky James, Jody Cundy, Sir Bradley Wiggins, Sir Chris Hoy, Victoria Pendleton, Andy Tennant and Ed Clancy.

Ed Clancy, two-time Olympic Gold medallist and ambassador for The Good Friday Meeting, says: “I’ve always enjoyed competing at the Good Friday Meeting and I’m pleased to be supporting it again this year. It’s fantastic to have such an open event, with great heritage, at the home of the 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games. It’s a competitive event, which attracts some of the world’s best riders but it has a unique atmosphere; it’s very relaxed and family-friendly."

Graham Bristow, Race Director of the SCCU Good Friday Meeting, adds: “We’re delighted that Ed is supporting the event again this year. The Good Friday Meeting is a high-class cycling competition, showcasing some of the world’s best riders, whilst also providing a fun, family friendly event, for those looking for some top entertainment over the Easter weekend in London that won’t break the bank.”

Qualifications and the first rounds of the two sprint competitions begin at 10:00. After a short break the meeting recommences at 13:00, featuring all the races synonymous with the SCCU Good Friday Meeting and is expected to end around 17:30 with the 15k Golden Wheel scratch race as the grand finale.

Tickets start from £11.25 and allow access to the whole day’s racing.
