Show off your tackle this Valentine’s Day

Bored of singles nights, speed dating or using the internet to find love? How about getting down and dirty with Tag Rugby League this Valentine’s Day?

The Valentine’s Day Challenge is the perfect event for sporty people who fancy meeting new people in a fun, friendly and welcoming environment. Even if you’ve never played Tag Rugby League before, the simple rules and mixed gender teams make it the perfect informal sport to meet like-minded people at – just think of it as an adult version of kiss chase!

Tag Rugby League CEO, Phillip Browne explains how players have been finding love on and off the Tag Rugby pitch: "Try Tag Rugby turned five in 2014 and in that time we have seen an ever increasing number of relationships start and blossom. We've even seen two Tag Rugby weddings and the first Tag Rugby baby is due this year!

"Tag Rugby League is a non-contact version of Rugby League and although we run men's and women’s leagues, the most popular leagues are mixed. The mixed game is ideal for meeting people of the opposite sex. One of the reasons I think we have seen so many successful relationships form at Try Tag Rugby is due to it being a great way to meet people in a no pressure, fun and social environment. Everyone is there to play Tag Rugby League as well, so you automatically have something in common and a subject with which to strike up a conversation, even with a complete stranger."

There is little time on the pitch for flirting but with rolling substitutes one player joked: “if you’re clever you can try and time your substitution so that it coincides with when someone you like is off the pitch and get a bit of extra chatting time in.”

Elle who met her partner Dane at a Tag Rugby League said: “Playing tag helps you to break the ice as there’s already a common interest and this means the hard part is done. Tag has given me the chance to meet so many amazing people, and the fact that I met someone who I was attracted to and wanted to spend time out of tag with was a lovely bonus. Joining tag made my two years in London the best years of my life – I made some incredible new friends and I even bagged myself a hunky man!”
