Recent events in France have brought questions of fundamentalism and multiculturalism to the fore of public debate. Between Paris and London, the issues connected with radicalism in political and public debate cover a wide and varied spectrum. Karim Miské, known for his documentary work on the suburbs of Paris and in particular the explosive youth of the ‘93’, will be exploring this spectrum in discussion with Kenan Malik, eminent specialist of jihadism and extremism, and Suzanne Moore, who analysed the recent Charlie Hebdo events for The Guardian.
Karim Miské will be giving a reading from his thriller Arab Jazz, just published in the UK, which involves characters who are strangely similar to the Kouachi brothers. The panel will be followed by a book-signing.
