Steve Peters has become a legend in elite sports circles. Credited as a major factor in the success of the Olympic British cycling team and described as ‘a genius’ by Team GB cycling Performance Director Dave Brailsford, his work in sports brought him into the spotlight after many years as a successful consultant psychiatrist in the NHS. His clear sighted understanding of how the mind works and how this knowledge can be used to our advantage has proved invaluable to those who’ve worked with him, as well as those who’ve read his best-selling book The Chimp Paradox (Vermilion).

Steve’s approach centres on understanding and managing our ‘inner chimp’ – the irrational, impulsive, seemingly impossible part of our mind that often holds us back or sabotages us. This evening will be a rare chance to hear Steve’s ideas and strategies, showing how competition is as much in the mind as it is in the field or on the track – or in the office.
