Cinema Made in Italy will be back from 5 – 9 March, as Ciné Lumière celebrates the fifth edition of London’s favourite Italian film festival. Italian cinema aficionados can look forward to another bumper crop, as this five day annual event showcases the best recent Italian productions. Once again, this year’s rich and diverse programme promises to delight and engage viewers, with films by established and new directors alike. As in previous years, screenings will be followed by Q&As with visiting filmmakers, allowing for audience participation and vibrant exchange.

The 2015 line-up offers something for everyone, and the Festival will open with Greenery Will Bloom Again by the renowned film-maker Ermanno Olmi, who ranks as one of Italy’s finest. A poignant and evocative reminder of the Italian soldiers who lost their lives on the North-Eastern front during WW1.

Another title not to be missed is the sharp-witted comedy Good for Nothing, by Gianni Di Gregorio, best known for directing the international arthouse hit Mid-August Lunch, and who also collaborated on the screenplay for Matteo Garrone’s Gomorrah. The cutting edge video art duo Nicolò Massazza and Iacopo Bedogni, aka Masbedo bring us The Lack, a highly innovative work which was screened at last year’s Venice Film Festival as a special event within the Venice Days section. One of this year’s other highlights is undoubtedly The Mafia Kills Only in Summer by Pierfrancesco Diliberto aka Pif, a comic take on the mob’s influence on life in modern day Sicily, which won Best European Comedy Award at the 2014 European Film Awards.
