For the sixth consecutive year, the talented musicians of the Doctors' Orchestra led by conductor Stephen Brearley will play in aid of human rights charity Freedom from Torture at the beautiful Cadogan Hall.

This year's special gala concert will comprise two monumental symphonies - Schubert's Great C Major and Berlioz' Symphonie Fantastique. These two symphonies were written only four years apart by composers aged just 29 and 27, yet are as different in style and technique as they could possibly be. Schubert's Great C Major overtly pays tribute to Beethoven, whom he revered, while lacking nothing of its composer's gift for melody. Berlioz, though no less in awe of Beethoven, produced in his Symphonie Fantastique a mould-breaking work whose brilliant orchestration and stunning effects profoundly influenced generations of composers who followed him.

Please come and revel in this superb music while making an invaluable contribution to the vital work being done by Freedom from Torture.

Freedom from Torture is the only national charity in the UK dedicated solely to the treatment of survivors of torture. They offer a holistic approach to rehabilitation which includes clinical psychology, psychotherapy and counselling as well as alternative therapies making use of art, music, drama and horticulture and attention to their legal and welfare needs.

Every penny raised by the concert will go towards helping survivors of torture rebuild their lives. Even if you are unable to attend, you can still show your support by making a donation online through Freedom from Torture's website www.freedomfromtorture.org
