Tartuffe d’après Tartuffe d’après Tartuffe d’après Molière

Conceived and performed by Guillaume Bailliart

One may have seen many Tartuffe… but never a Tartuffe as such… where an actor, in a solo act, plays all the parts, transforming this French classic into a tour de force.

Guillaume Bailliart literally spouts the play as to reveal the extraordinary energy of the language of Molière. In this mad venture, Bailliart is mainly interested in the excessive and hurtling words, in the ‘formal dictatorship of the verse’ as he likes to put it, an extremely restrainted style that allows nonetheless the most inventive of acts.

Overflowing with energy and breathtaking acting, Guillaume Bailliart revives these words of great strenghth and timeless meaning.

In French with English surtitles | 70 mins / no interval | Age guidance: 12+

The show on Friday 13 March will be followed by a talk with Guillaume Bailliart
