The Night of the Jumps is the oldest and largest international Freestyle MX series in the world, and comes to The O2 on Saturday 5 September 2015 with the most competitive line-up of riders in the history of the series.
Night of the Jumps sees the world’s top FMX riders pit their skills against each other, especially in the freestyle discipline. The event is a unique mixture, combining international top-class sport (FIM Freestyle MX World Championship, Freestyle MX European Championship) with classical show elements such as pyro and lighting technology.
The event strives to connect spectators with the stars of the FMX scene and is completed by show elements, such as the MAXXIS High Jump contest, the Whip contest or the 2009 introduced Race-and-Style contests and other selected show acts such as the double backflip, backwards somersault with the quad, snowmobile or BMX shows. Maikel Melero is the current FIM Freestyle MX World Champion.
With world records regularly being broken, including the ‘Highest Air’ (11,50 metres by Massimo Bianconcini at NIGHT of the JUMPs in Turin 2012) and the ‘all-time youngest motorbike backflip’ (12-year-old Luc Ackermann at NIGHT of the JUMPs in Cologne 2010), the series continues to set the benchmark and to excite media attention from around the world.
