The metalgaze quartet Junius recently released their highly anticipated new EP, Days of The Fallen Sun, on Prosthetic Records. The record, produced by long-time

collaborator Will Benoit, is a follow-up to the band’s critically acclaimed 2011 full-length, Reports from the Threshold of Death, and serves as a thematic prequel to

their 2009 album, The Martyrdom of a Catastrophist.

On Martyrdom, the concept was centered around the turbulent life of controversial scholar Immanuel Velikovsky, providing a captivating narrative to the band’s

expansive, dreamlike soundtrack, which Pitchfork.com called

a rich, immersive experience, a bleak jewel of a record that takes obsession as its theme and rewards it in equal measure.
