A series of poetry readings chaired and introduced by Ruth Padel, Poetry Fellow in the Department of English. A fantastic opportunity to hear internationally renowned contemporary poets for free.

Poetry And… Our War in Afghanistan with Andrew O’Hagan and Bryony Doran

Andrew O'Hagan's latest novel, The Illuminations, is a meditation on storytelling and war featuring Luke, a soldier returning from a tour of duty to his native Scotland and the life he's left behind. Bryony Doran's poems offer us a new angle on conflict, written from the perspective of a mother whose son is serving overseas, with clear-sighted precision and movingly restrained candour.

There will be a questions and answers session at the end of the reading. Wine will be provided.
