Whether you're a teacher who wants to learn how to best support students who are struggling with poor body image & disordered eating, a therapist looking to integrate yoga into treatment, or you struggle with food and body image issues personally, this intensive 15-hour program will teach you practical tools for using yoga to overcome food and body image issues on all ends of the spectrum.

The Yoga, Food & Body Image Intensive also serves as Module One of the Eat Breathe Thrive facilitator training; graduates of this workshop are eligible to apply to become facilitators-in-training for the Eat Breathe Thrive Community Program (a six-week series, designed to seed community-based networks of support for people to help one another overcome food and body image issues).

CURRICULUM OVERVIEW:

Day 1: Yoga: A Game Changer in Eating Disorders

Opening circle and group discussion about the role yoga can play in healing food and body image issues on all ends of the spectrum

Includes group discussion and interactive exercises (NO ASANA)

Day 2: Coming Home to the Body

Learn how to use yoga to develop a healthier relationship with your body through yogic techniques for tracking hunger and fullness signals, coping with emotions, and cultivating a sense of "home" in your own skin.

Includes asana session, group discussion, interactive exercises, and meditation

Day 3: The Double Edged Sword

Despite the tremendous value yoga can offer in overcoming food & body image issues, yoga can be a double- edged sword. On one hand, the practice can teach essential skills for long-term recovery, but the wrong approach to yoga can actually exacerbate food and body image issues. Learn how to use the practice of yoga can be used for healing rather than harming, and to how to support your students in doing the same.

Includes asana session, group discussion, interactive exercises, and meditation.
