Described as '...a beacon of accuracy and meticulousness', Full Fact is the UK's non-partisan, independent factchecking organisation. We regularly work with official statistics bodies like the Office for National Statistics, expert research organisations and national broadcasters such as the BBC and Sky.

We’ve delivered training and seminars to a range of audiences, from journalists around the world to communications professionals – ‘so much useful information in a short masterclass, loved it!’ was some of the feedback we received when we first ran this session in December 2014.

Working in a group no larger than eight, masterclass will provide insight into the principles that have informed our success and advice on how you can add value to your own statistics-based communications.

We’ll focus on how you can:

Not be misled by statistics; how to ask the three most important questions.
Use graphs and data visualisations effectively and in technically appropriate ways.
Create highly shareable social media outputs.
Present data in ways others can use and reuse.

Who is this for?

Anyone with an interest in how statistics and data are shared, but particularly:

Communications and press office staff.
Analysis and research staff.
Policy people who work with or present data.
Journalists/bloggers.
Design professionals who work regularly with data.

*Please note that the session lasts for 3 hours and we will have two slots available on the day (10am-1pm and 2pm-5pm).
