Carl Turner Architects (CTA) and The Collective give street artists the chance to become part of Pop Brixton and create a lasting impression on the three-year project. Entries open on the 27th Feb and close on the 25th March.

The brief, which includes visualisations of the 20ft and 40ft containers, calls on artists from across London to sketch their ideas, drawing inspiration from Pop Brixton’s core values: community, sustainability, creativity and vibrancy. The twenty-one selected artists will have the chance to become part of the exciting and unique project, bringing their work to life on the outside of the ground floor containers.

Presented by CTA and its development partner, The Collective, the competition embodies everything Pop Brixton stands for. The finalists will be invited to realise their sketches on the containers over a weekend, giving the local community a chance to both witness the works of art come to life and meet the talent behind them.

The visionary project, backed by Lambeth Council, will establish a hub of creative entrepreneurs based within a campus of up-cycled shipping containers. The converted units, which form a perimeter around a courtyard area, will provide much needed studio and workshop spaces at affordable prices.

Alongside, studio, workshop and retail accommodation, there will be space for live/work units, pop-up food facilities, bars with rooftop terraces and an entertainment area which will host a range of exciting events, from comedy nights to music and performance arts.
