This Spring, Tate Britain is hosting a bespoke evening celebrating Hogarth, gin and food, the first of a series of art and food events which explore the gallery’s extensive collection through food and drink. As always, Tate will be championing British produce with a menu specifically designed around some Hogarth’s most famous paintings and using speciality British ingredients.

The evening will begin with a private viewing of Hogarth’s work and an introduction to the artist and his works. You will then be taken to the Grand Saloon to expand on your knowledge of gin with a tasting and an introduction to the drinks history. Cocktails will also be provided along with two canapes of the finest British ingredients; wood pigeon, juniper foam gin and cucumber jelly and Loch Duart salmon cured with gin botanicals, both designed to complement the tasting perfectly.

The three course dinner will be held in the Rex Whistler restaurant described in the past as “The Most Amusing Room in Europe”, a fitting venue to celebrate Hogarth’s satirical sense of humour.
