The Second City Training Centre is coming to London in May courtesy of Angel Comedy and Comedy Blogedy. The organization that saw the birth of performers such as Bill Murray, Will Ferrell, Tina Fey, Mike Myers, Amy Poehler and John Belushi, will be setting up shop in London’s own Angel Comedy in heart of Islington.

For a limited run of two weeks, UK performers will get the chance to take part in workshops aimed at teaching and honing the techniques and skills that have inspired so many prominent stars. The courses are the official “immersion” intensives from the Second City Training Centre taught by working professionals, many of whom are former Second City performers themselves.

Improv Immersion Level A is open to all students. Levels B-D are for improvisers with some experience.

Improv Immersion Level A: Fundamentals
A detailed look at the principles and processes of improvisation for beginners, including ensemble work, play, and beginning scenework.

Improv Immersion Level B: Character & Scenework
Learn many techniques for developing strong characters, including status, point of view, and subtext. Also explore the elements of good scenework, such as beats, environment, and emotional life. Builds on concepts from Level 1.

Improv Immersion Level C: Advanced Scenework
Building upon the foundation of Level 2, students will deal with a more mature type of improvisation that can be harvested for sketch. Focus on topics such as advanced character creation, scene/premise structure, acting, reference level, and using music to find scenes and characters.

Improv Immersion Level D: Improvisation into Sketch
Dive into how Second City uses improvisation to develop sketch material. Explore concepts like satire, using improv sets, re-improvising scenes, and the key elements of a Second City running order.
